Every once in a while we awe at something that is so cool that we wish it existed in the real world that we occupy. This is one of those things. One look at the image and you get it. Immediately. Visualized by American design firm Choi + Shine Architects , these massive structures look almost reassuring, like some gods that stand united watching over the lands. [Kind of reminds us of the The Gates of Argonath from the Lord of the Rings. ] The...

A little earlier this year, Italian luxury kitchen maker Pedini introduced a new line of kitchen cabinets that had an interesting characteristic – a system that doesn’t include handles. The DUNE series is defined by asymmetrically curved base units echoing flowing forms found in nature. Opening is achieved by a groove on the edge of the extra thick front panel (base units) or by a vertical aluminum profile (tall units). Is this innovative?...

When technology meets office design to create an eye catching workplace viewable from blocks away, we can’t help but be tinkled pink at the thought. The events agency Büro Hirzberger hired one of the best techie talents, Austrian design agency Strukt Design Studio to create a digitally enhanced wall that would capture the essence of their company by using video projectors and tons of creative precision. The Pac Man visuals are but an...

An architectural beauty sits on the Pacific coast of Southern California where the blue ocean and sky provide all the color you need. It could be why this modern beach house is dressed in white from head to toe. Or perhaps architects Richard Meier and Michael Palladino left it up to the clients high-end art collection to do all the coloring. This home is a beautiful representation of intelligent design caused by the desire to create an interior/exterior...

Modern kitchens are more keen on aesthetics these days than they are on practicality. But perhaps the clean line simplicity of this style calls for hidden contraptions regarding all things functional. Either way, our friends at deviant art hooked us up with a creative perspective of the contemporary modern kitchen. As large or tiny as these cooking centers are, they really only provide about 25% of usable space! But beauty is definitely in the...

There is nothing more exciting than walking into a kid’s room for that radical splash of color, cool toys and a feeling of nostalgia us grown ups often long for. Modern themed rooms however, are typically less intuitive and more focused on injecting color and molding interesting forms and hidden compartments out of the furniture itself. Now if kids knew anything about the quality of Italian products, they would probably lay off the Chef...

Do you ever wonder why artists use the strangest mediums to create their work? Apparently they have their reasons for carrying the intimate relationships they do with their objects of expression. And featured below using some non-traditional mediums is Iri5 who’s philosophy lies in using materials that express the many dimensions of creative life through the media. To orchestrate her own creativity, she creates portrait silouettes of pop icons...

There are many different ways to decorate your home while using the same basic pieces of furniture as your canvas. A sofa set may be a bit more challenging due to issues that may arise because of limited space but generally when you have neutral furniture, the sky is the limit. You can add an accent color or two with throw pillows and area rugs, then interchange …  Read More →

We just love this cute little office space of UK based design studio Raw . It’s clean, simple and to the point. This no-nonsense approach to the studio’s design is reflected in the company’s web and graphic design projects too and have landed them quite a few big clients (including the Liverpool football club). That is quite a colorful entrance. The main working area has a huge whiteboard! …  Read More →

The deviants are at it again, but this time they attacked the creative center of their brains in the name of taking a good old fashion bath in our modern new world. These wildly artistic bathrooms have everything to do with fantasy and little to do with… well, reality. Although some of these sexy bathrooms are on the not so well-lit side, the overall impressions outweigh that glitch with flying colors. No really, the colors do fly in here-...

Except today we shall marvel over the trendy pops of color and bold whimsical patterns infused into and inspired by our contemporary lifestyle. These wallpaper designers have no easy job and pay close attention to contemporary trends to create some smoking hot wallpaper designs that have a modern but nostalgic feel...

This tiny but highly sophisticated studio apartment in the East Village of NYC has made us very proud, thanks to JPDA . Not only was it built as a super efficient multi-functional unit but with the use of detailed mill work, the storage capacity was very cleverly executed and resulted in a super stylish studio with a decent amount of floor space. Shouldn’t all NYC dwellers aim to live like this? You decide… A schematic rendering...

Let’s cut to the chase- this NYC loft by West Chin Architect, pllc., is undeniably sexy! It has all the elements of NYC’s edgy pizazz while maintaining its cool! The ironic part of it all is that kids actually live here which makes it hard to believe that they don’t throw plastic on the sofas when no one is looking! But don’t be fooled, the kid rooms are nothing…  Read More →

Building a big home on a small lot always presents the conundrum of getting the most bang for your buck while keeping the essence of luxury living intact. The home we feature today is a residential structure that was built for a young family located in an urban city of Argentina. This project was a collaboration between architects and client that challenged them to come up with well designed solutions in creating an urban oasis with elements...
