I felt I needed to make this video to honor this multi-talented amazing artist.... He could sing like an angel, dance, make people pass out with just a glance ^_^, compose beautiful music from his soul, and on top of all that the man could also draw. Such an inspiration of mine, I had to pay tribute to him. I used to draw Michael Jackson when I was in middle school, I didn't have any pictures to look at so I just paused the VHS tapes to get a good head shot of him and would then draw him. I got awards in middle school and my original artwork was featured in the school's art magazine for that year. I was also asked to attend an art school in 7th grade. It was far too expensive, so my Mom and Dad took me to Michael's craft store to buy a set of charcoal pencils, erasers, a large sketch pad, and some books. Using the How To books I taught myself more about using charcoal, then I went on to teach myself how to use oil paint with the wet on wet technique that Bob Ross used. The multiply method (color tut video 01) works best with brighter images or line-art and the color layer method (color tut video 02) works best for darker images as it will not effect white areas. Having your line-art or b/w drawing and the color on separate layers you can adjust the colors by doing: when working with color layer mode (color tut video 02), if the color does not look like what you have in mind then use image/adjustments/Hue/Saturation to tweak the color until you get the shade you need. You can lower the layer opacity to have less saturation too. when working with multiply layers (color tut video 01) you can adjust the colors by using image/adjustments/Hue/Saturation To get the best results you still can paint over on top of your image. The downside of working with multiply layers is that you can not make good use of the color-picker unless the background is completely white.
