living in: two for the road
Some girls are rabid Audrey Hepburn fans. They dress up like Holly Golightly every year for Halloween and watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s once a week. Perhaps I’m going to get crucified far and wide across the internet for saying this but, um, I tried to watch Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the first time last year and I just couldn’t get into it. To each their own. I’d rather watch Two for the Road over and over again, anyways. Few movies show the true nature of relationships so honestly; happiness, heartbreak, boredom, jealousy, misery and all. Plus, the story is told over a serious of different road trip flashbacks. All road trips, all movie long. It’s amazing. [image above, clockwise from …

This one goes out to all the lovers out there… and the rest of us, too. One of the funniest, sweetest and most quirky romances around, Harold and Maude defies convention. Rarely does a movie so preoccupied with death honestly show the true nature of love and life. And Ruth Gordon is amazing. Who doesn’t want to grow up to be such a free spirit?...
Designer Pierre Lescop offers a funny breakfast set, which is named On the Road. The main idea of this set is to provide all necessary cups to prepare a full breakfast. This is one of the first movies I decided to do when I started this column 6 months ago and I’ve been biding my time ever since. It’s such an epically amazing movie that I wanted to give it my A+ effort, on the off chance that you haven’t seen it. But then I realized, there is no doing this movie justice. More so than any other...
Continuing in the Halloween spirit, Rosemary’s Baby is my favorite kind of scary movie- suspenseful, chilling and eerie without any gore. I’m a big wuss when it comes to horror movies and continually hold my hands over my eyes, so an adorable Mia Farrow makes the whole thing much more manageable. As Halloween inches closer, I can’t get Edward Scissorhands off my mind. It’s one of those movies that bewitched me as a kid and still makes me turn to mush. Hands down- the most gentle, imaginative and magical movie ever. I can’t even form proper sentences to describe how wonderful it is. Not like I have to, though. You already know. [image...
To celebrate the triumphant return of “Living In” from our two week hiatus, I bring you what may be my favorite post in the series so far, National Velvet . Perhaps you may not geek out about old children’s movies as much as I do, but it’s a proven fact you cannot go wrong with horses, cute dresses and little Liz Taylor. Pop some popcorn...
Singapore has some very interesting architectural structures and interior design firms, as one of the top and most expensive destinations in South East Asia. I was tweeting a few moments ago asking my friends if anyone knew of a good hotel in London and Little Miss Wedding tweeted back that she suggests the High Road House in West London. I looked them up and I like what I see! I’m thinking of inquiring now, as I’d love to spend a few days there sometime soon to visit some museums and do...
Located in a beautiful natural environment, where the forest meets the coastline, the River Road House from Studio A Architecture combines sustainability with all the benefits of modern living. Even though the aria on which this place is built measures 5,000 square foot, thus providing a “setting for work, daily living and play”,...
LCD projectors are great to watch movies and to play games. Having tried them out ourselves in a few different settings, we can say that there’s nothing quite like having your own home movie theater, especially when it includes one of these projectors. How about making your own? Read Full Post
